Naked Juice Versus Odwalla - the new avatar of Pepsi versus Coke

Through Mark Bittman's blog 'Bitten' I came across this link to a chart that talks about which major food processing corporations own which organic brands. Very informative!
'Organic food' is big business, as 'eating right' becomes a priority for more and more people. I'm obviously no authority on the subject - but I try to be an interested consumer.

You know what... at the supermarket, the sales guys are always asking me to buy the higher priced organic stuff... I always ask them, "How do I know FOR SURE that this stuff was grown organically"? While I'd like to go organic, I don't think I can be sure till I actually grow what I consume.

Totally agree!!

the strategy seems to be "buy everything that remotely looks like competition, and turn it into a clone of myself'. i believe some of the fair trade chocolate brands that were taken over are no longer fair trade.

Huge corporates always scare the heck out of me. I was reading Food Politics by Marion Nestle and the whole certification of organic process and the political lobbying that goes behind such the label of organic was frightening. However, when i think of the alternative, eating non organic food - it is a threat of another kind.

Kind of a catch 22 situation!
